This week we celebrate Thanksgiving – a holiday in which we set aside time to thank God for his blessings and provision throughout this past year
For all of us who have come to know the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, this holiday is an opportunity to put an exclamation point on the 10,000 reasons and more that we have to bless the Lord and thank him for kindness toward us.
He has provided us with food and homes and clothing.
He has provided us with family and friends.
He has provided us with the freedoms we enjoy in this country and endless opportunities to love our neighbors and bring glory to God through grace-empowered faithfulness.
But more than all of these things, God has given us the grace of his Son and the glories of His cross. We are forgiven, accepted, loved, and delighted in by our heavenly Father. He has been and will continue to be steadfast in his love and faithfulness.
For all those who know how wretched we were in our ourselves and how magnificent the grace of God is toward us, each day is another opportunity for grateful adoration and thanksgiving! Let us thank him with grateful hearts and give glory to his name.
“My heart is filled with thankfulness
To Him who bore my pain;
Who plumbed the depths of my disgrace
And gave me life again;
Who crushed my curse of sinfulness
And clothed me in His light
And wrote His law of righteousness
With pow’r upon my heart.”
